Gloria Riefkohl, MD, MPH, MSHSA, FAAP
Pediatrician
Dr. Gloria Riefkohl is a board-certified pediatrician and sees patients at the Gladys M. and Frederick Stewart Pediatric Care Center, located on the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital main campus. The Pediatric Care Center is the continuity of care program where children are seen for their routine visits from birth to their 21st birthday.
Dr. Riefkohl earned her medical degree from the Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico in 1985. Shel completed a residency in pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center/Saint Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland in 1988. Inspired by an interest in providing care to underserved communities, Dr. Riefkohl then pursued a Master of Public Health at the University of Miami, where she graduated in 1993 with Magna Cum Laude honors. Dr. Riefkohl also holds a Masters in Health Services Administration from Barry University (2012). Her clinical interests include international health, community health programs, injury and disease prevention, teaching and working with children with special health care needs.
Dr. Riefkohl is board certified in general pediatrics. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Adolescent Health Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Florida Pediatric Society. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at medical conferences.
Dr. Riefkohl is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and is involved in teaching pediatric residents and medical students. In addition, she actively participates in the development and implementation of the primary care academic curriculum at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Riefkohl is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
