Following a school health examination that sparked concern for Naomi’s spine, she was diagnosed with scoliosis. For the past eight years, she has been fighting hard to prevent further curvature of her spine, trying every type of treatment options including bracing, chiropractic care, and even a scoliosis bootcamp during which she performed daily exercises. As Naomi matured, the curve progressed greatly, causing greater concern for her family as Naomi’s radiance dimmed from the pain and impact it had on her life. Traveling and walking long distances became difficult, and classmates at school began to tease her about her condition.
After seeking several opinions from other physicians and healthcare facilities, Naomi and her family found comfort through a treatment plan led by the team at Nicklaus Children’s
Orthopedic, Sports Medicine & Spine Institute. Confiding in the expertise of Dr. George, Nicklaus Children’s Orthopedic, Sports Medicine & Spine Institute Pediatric Spinal Surgery and Surgical Services Medical Director, Naomi underwent spinal surgery last year.
Fast forward to today, she has been returning to the things she loves, cheerleading and traveling with her family. Naomi’s radiance has returned and strongly believes she made one of the best decisions when she chose to undergo spinal surgery.
