Clinical Geneticist

Dr. Cardenas is a clinical geneticist within the Division of Genetic and Metabolic Disorders at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He earned his medical degree from Universidad de San Martin de Porres in Lima, Peru. Dr. Cardenas completed a residency in medical genetics at University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He then pursued a fellowship in medical biochemical genetics at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. His clinical interests include inherited metabolic disorders.

Dr. Cardenas is board certified in both clinical genetics and medical biochemical genetics. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Society of Inherited Metabolic Diseases and the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Cardenas is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. He is bilingual in English and Spanish and sees patients at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital main campus and Nicklaus Children’s Palm Beach Gardens Outpatient Center.
