Heidi Gamboa, DO

 
Dr. Heidi Gamboa is a pediatric gastroenterologist within the Division of Gastroenterology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale and completed a residency in pediatrics at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Gamboa pursed a fellowship in gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition at Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in New Castle County, Delaware. After fellowship, she acquired additional training in Neurogastroenterology and Motility at the Medical College of Wisconsin/Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Her clinical interests include nausea, vomiting, functional constipation and motility disorders of the gastrointestinal tract.
 
Dr. Gamboa is board certified in pediatrics. She is a member of the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN). Dr. Gamboa also participates on NASPGHAN’s Endoscopy Committee. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and she has presented at both national and global conferences.
 
Dr. Gamboa is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
 
The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is dedicated to the treatment of a wide variety of gastrointestinal problems in children and adolescents. The team employs a multidisciplinary approach that brings together an array of specialists to deliver personalized care to the patient and family. The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center provides comprehensive support and management for children and young adults with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, while the Gastrointestinal (GI) Center offers nutritional assessment and counseling for overweight children, as well as those with dietary restrictions. Consultations with the division’s board-certified physicians are offered in both English and Spanish at the hospital’s main campus near Coral Gables and Nicklaus Children’s outpatient centers located from southern Miami-Dade to Martin counties.
