Eminent Pediatric Neurosurgeon Gregory W. Hornig, MD, Joins Nicklaus Children's Hospital

MIAMI – Eminent pediatric neurosurgeon Gregory W. Hornig, MD, has joined the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Brain Institute and Pediatric Specialists of America (PSA), the multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.

Prior to joining Nicklaus Children’s, Dr. Hornig served for more than 20 years as the section chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

“Dr. Hornig is a nationally and internationally renowned expert in pediatric neurosurgery,” commented John Ragheb, MD, director of the Division of Neurosurgery at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. “We are delighted to have him on board.”

Dr. Hornig earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Ohio. He then pursued a residency in neurosurgery and fellowship in surgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. His clinical interests include hydrocephalus, epilepsy, spasticity, trauma and brain tumors. Dr. Hornig is board certified in neurological surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, International Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery and the Neurosurgical Society of America. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he has presented at many conferences, both nationally and globally. Dr. Hornig is an advocate for bringing world-class neurological care to children in developing nations and participates in medical mission trips to South America. He has been the recipient of numerous awards for his dedication, academic achievement, and accomplishments. Dr. Hornig is frequently sought out as a subject-matter expert.

Dr. Hornig sees patients at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital main campus, Nicklaus Children’s Boynton Beach Care Center and Nicklaus Children’s Palm Beach Gardens Outpatient Center. He is trilingual in English, French and Spanish.
