New Director of Public Policy and Government Relations Joins Miami Children’s Hospital

MIAMI, FL – Shira Kastan, has joined Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) as Director of Public Policy and Government Relations. Ms. Kastan received her master’s degree in Public Administration and her bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida International University. Prior to joining the hospital, she served as Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs Office of Chairman Joe A. Martinez, Miami-Dade County. 

“With her training and practical experience, Ms. Kastan will play a key role at Miami Children’s, as we work to advance legislative and local governmental programs that benefit the health of the children of this community,” said Thomas M. Rozek, President and CEO of Miami Children's. 

The Department of Public Policy and Governmental Relations Department works with local, state, and federal officials, advocating programs and initiatives that benefit children’s health. 

Founded in 1950, Miami Children's Hospital is the only licensed specialty hospital for children in South Florida. Ranked Miami–Dade County’s “Best Pediatric Hospital” by South Florida Parenting Magazine, Miami Children's Hospital offers medical care and services for children from birth to age 21.
