Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH) has been awarded the “2013 Florida Worksite Wellness Forum Award” by The Florida Heart Research Institute, in partnership with the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade, an initiative of the Miami-Dade County Health Department.

MCH was selected for demonstrating its commitment to employee wellness practices and programs that produce positive health outcomes.  MCH was the winner of the large employer group category among businesses that have 1,000 employees. Other winners included Mayors Jewelers and Ocean Reef Club.

“We want to protect our employee’s well-being in the office and at home, but also provide opportunity for better long-term health,” said Caroline Elistin, MCH Manager of Employee Health and Wellness. “A healthy employee yields an engaged, loyal and productive employee,” she said.

The Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade is an initiative of the Miami-Dade County Health Department. Its volunteer committees work in collaboration to promote healthy lifestyles including a healthy diet, regular physical activity and not using tobacco products.  The Worksite Wellness Committee promotes healthy lifestyles in the work setting by sharing information on best practices and by creating partnerships to implement worksite wellness activities.
