MIAMI -- Armando Llechu has been promoted to Vice President of Clinical Operations at Miami Children's Hospital. In this role, he oversees a range of hospital services including pharmacy, emergency, radiology, transfer, trauma, vascular access and clinical laboratory.

Mr. Llechu joined Miami Children's in 2008 and has held multiple management positions, including serving as Administrative Director of Emergency Department and Support Services. Prior to joining Miami Children's, Mr. Llechu served in various leadership capacities with Tenet Healthcare.

Among his current undertakings is the expansion of the hospital’s Emergency Department (ED), which is one of the top-performing pediatric emergency services in the nation. Recently opened were 20 new exam rooms and the new Miguel “Mike” B. Fernandez Family Pediatric Trauma Center, which expands the treatment facility for South Florida’s only freestanding pediatric trauma center. When the project is complete in early 2015, the ED will have 72 state-of-the-art new and refurbished exam rooms to serve the nearly 100,000 children brought for treatment each year.

Mr. Llechu holds a master's degree in business administration from Florida International University (FIU) and recently received a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from FIU.

"Armando Llechu has been a tremendous asset to our organization," said Martha McGill, Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer. "He has leveraged his Lean organizational improvement skills to optimize the emergency care experience for South Florida’s children and continues to lead the Emergency Department expansion and refurbishment that will further enhance the care experience within the department, which is among the premier pediatric emergency services in the nation.”
