MIAMI - Miami Children’s Hospital (MCH), the region’s only healthcare system exclusively for children, is enhancing the pediatric urgent care experience by letting parents know how long they will need to wait for an urgent care practitioner to see their child during a minor injury or illness. MCH has launched a text messaging tool in which parents can text MCH to 437411 from their cell phones to receive up-to-the-minute wait times for all four MCH urgent care facilities, located in Palmetto Bay, West Kendall, Doral and Weston. This texting feature empowers parents with the information they need to make an immediate decision about their child’s care. The urgent care wait time that is communicated via text message represents a four-hour rolling average updated every five minutes. Messaging and data rates may apply. Miami Children's Urgent Care Centers are not intended for emergencies, but are appropriate for minor, non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries for children up to 21 years of age requiring immediate medical attention after-hours.
