Jayden's Success Story

Published on: 01/12/2012
“My son Jayden Garcia was born in January 2007 at Kendall Regional Hospital. He had just been released from the hospital and we were on our way to the elevator when something strange and unexpected happened. He was sleeping while I was carrying him and he started jerking and having a seizure. The seizure continued while he was sleeping and the nurse that was bringing me down noticed it was not normal. She took me back upstairs and told the doctors. They put him in an incubator and took him to Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, in the ambulance. They admitted him at the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and they took care of him like they truly cared…  And that's what really matters, having nurses and doctors treat each patient not like a job but as something they genuinely enjoy doing. This is why I love Nicklaus Children's Hospital. Thank you so much for everything! You really helped us in our son’s two week process of recovery. His diagnosis was Myoclonic Jerks. He is just fine now, thank God."
