Elena's Success Story

“At age 11, Elena began having violent seizures that would not stop, even with medicine. She was being transported from school to the hospital at least once a week. We had to be with her every second of the day because of the possibility that she would have a seizure. In 2011, we were referred to Nicklaus Children's Hospital where doctors ran a number of tests and determined that surgery was the best option for her condition. She had two surgeries, one to map her brain and another to remove a cavernoma. Her recovery was quick and she has been seizure free ever since. Elena is now a regular 13-year-old girl enjoying middle school without having to worry about seizures. The caring medical professionals at Nicklaus Children's Hospital were amazing. We are forever indebted to them for giving us back our daughter.”
