“In September 2011, our pediatrician referred us to Nicklaus Children's Hospital to see a specialist because my daughter was having sharp pains in her upper left corner of the stomach and side. An ultrasound led to the discovery of a tumor (a lesion) in my daughter’s spleen. Dr. Felix Ramirez-Seijas referred us to Dr. Leopoldo Malvezzi, who in conjunction with Dr. Ana Duarte, prescribed a medication for 6 months to attempt to reduce the size of the lesion. After the 6 months were up, Dr. Malvezzi performed surgery to remove the lesion. Today Caitlyn feels amazing and no longer has pain, thanks to all the amazing doctors at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital!”
