Amanda's Miracle Story

Published on: 01/09/2012
“My daughter Amanda had a traumatic brain injury when she was 13 months old. She was airlifted to Miami Children, where the neurosurgeon on call was Dr. David Sandberg. Once in the hospital Dr. Sandberg and the wonderful team of doctors, nurses and staff saved my baby's life. She had a craniotomy (brain surgery) and was in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for three weeks. She was then transferred to the neurological unit. Now, Amanda can walk and is doing therapy daily to improve her health. She is a happy 3-year-old child who attends school, and we are looking to a bright future. Thank you, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, formerly Miami Children's Hospital, for saving our daughter's life. We were very lucky to have such wonderful hospital nearby.”
