Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center Reaccredited by National Association of Epilepsy Centers

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, part of the hospital’s renowned Brain Institute, has been reaccredited as a level 4 epilepsy center for 2024-2025 by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). Level 4 epilepsy centers must maintain standards for providing the highest level of medical and surgical treatment for children and adolescents with complex epilepsy.

The Brain Institute is an internationally recognized leader in caring for children with epilepsy. Since its founding in 1984, the program fast became a pioneer in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of children with seizure disorders, advancing global acceptance of surgical interventions, to provide hope for children with epileptic disorders. Today, the center is involved in cutting-edge research and utilizes the latest technologies such as laser and focused beam ultrasound to treat areas of the brain that are difficult to reach, with the goal of helping children with complex epilepsies become seizure free. The center has performed over 1,600 surgeries to date and continues its commitment to provide the latest and most comprehensive care options to children in the United States and around the world to ensure that no child should ever have to leave home for epilepsy care.
