Nicklaus Children’s Hospital’s Comprehensive Epilepsy Center has been reaccredited as a level 4 epilepsy center for 2022-23 by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC). It is one of few pediatric epilepsy centers in the state designated as level 4.

Level 4 epilepsy centers feature the professional expertise and facilities to provide the highest level of medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex epilepsy. Level 4-designated centers offer comprehensive  evaluations for epilepsy surgery candidates, including use of intracranial electrodes to support brain mapping, as well as a broad range of interventional procedures to treat patients with medically resistant epilepsy.

“We are delighted to be designated once again as a level 4 facility by the NAEC. It is a testament to our continued commitment to ensuring patients with epilepsy receive the best care possible and have access to the latest treatments,” said Dr. Michael Duchowny, Pediatric Neurologist and Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, part of the Nicklaus Children’s Brain Institute, is a world leader in caring for infants, children and young adults with epilepsy. The program offers the latest medical and surgical interventions to help children with epileptic seizures and draws families from throughout the region and beyond in search of help for children with complex care needs.
