Children Move to the Rhythm of Zumba at Camp Funrise 2017

Published on: 06/22/2017

Children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (an inflammation of the joints that is characterized by swelling, heat, and pain) had a terrific tuesday during their Zumba fitness class at this year's Camp Funrise. This recreational and therapeutic activity is one of many exciting events taking place at the week-long, sleep away camp exclusively for Nicklaus Children's Hospital patients with juvenile arthritis.

Camp Funrise, which ran for over 25 years, from 1991 until 2017, was sponsored by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and the Florida Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, was free for all of its campers under the supervision of nurses and medical staff of the Division of Rheumatology. The campers participate in typical camp activities within a safe and caring environment.
