The Division of Neuropsychology, within the Neurology Department at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, is NOT accepting applications for one postdoctoral Pediatric Neuropsychology Fellowship position to begin in September 2020. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is ranked #16 in Children’s Neurology in US World and News Report. This two year fellowship is designed to meet the criteria set forth by the Houston Conference Policy Statement on education and training. The goal of the program is to prepare the fellow for a career as a scientist-practitioner in pediatric neuropsychology.
Fellows will be involved in clinical activities including extensive clinical training in evaluation of patients with a broad range of neurological disorders seen in pediatric patients including epilepsy, neuro-oncology, neuro-cardiology, autism spectrum disorders, neuro-genetic disorders, traumatic brain disorders, and other neurocognitive disorders that affect learning and development. Fellows work closely with children and families during their inpatient evaluations for epilepsy surgery candidacy and have the opportunity to observe and participate in surgical procedures (e.g., language mapping, awake craniotomy). There are research opportunities available in epilepsy for interested fellows. Trainees will participate in didactics, including neuropsychology grand rounds, case conference, neurology, and neuro-oncology and psychology grand rounds and will be involved in the training of undergraduate and graduate level neuropsychology students and APA interns.
The current salary is $57,865 with benefits. Completion of an APA accredited doctoral training program and internship in Neuropsychology are required. Preference is given to candidates that will have completed all doctoral degree requirements before fellowship start date. Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital is pleased to announce the availability of a 12-month postdoctoral fellowship position to participate in the Consultation-Liaison service, Outpatient Therapy service, and Outpatient clinics. The Consultation Service provides hospital-wide consultation and intervention for patients admitted to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. The postdoctoral fellow will provide inpatient consultation and intervention to hospitalized children and families, as well as outpatient follow-up care. Outpatient clinics include Diabetes Clinic, Late Effects Clinic, BMT Survivor Clinic, Sickle Cell Clinic, Sarcoma Clinic, Hemophilia Clinic, as well as, Rare Chromosome Clinic, GI Clinic, and Headache Clinic. Outpatient therapy and assessment cases will also be assigned. Specific training in pediatric psychology and consultation/liaison service delivery is required. Supervision and training for pediatric health interns (from our APA-accredited internship), advanced practicum students, and medical residents is also expected. Research involvement is encouraged for submission of posters and papers in national conferences.
