Mrs. Gonzalez joined Miami Children’s Hospital in 1980 and is responsible for the leadership and management of the Nursing Department and for the clinical practice of nursing throughout the health system. In addition, Mrs. Gonzalez is responsible for patient care service departments such as Life Flight®, pulmonary care, social services, emergency and surgical services.

She led the Hospital nursing team to achieve American Nurses Credentialing Center (“ANCC”) “Magnet” designation in 2003 as the 4th pediatric hospital nationwide as well as its re-designation in 2008. She was appointed by two different governors to the Florida Center for Nursing. She was a member of the Florida Hospital Association Strategic Planning Committee and has served in a leadership role on the boards of many organizations.

Mrs. Gonzalez serves as guest faculty at local schools of nursing, including University of Miami and Florida International University.

Mrs. Gonzalez received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in 1979 from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Miami in 1987. In 2005, Mrs. Gonzalez was inducted as a Fellow into the American Academy of Nursing. Mrs. Gonzalez received her Healthcare MBA from George Washington University in 2013 and is currently enrolled for her doctoral degree in Nursing Practice with the University of Miami.
