Deise Granado-Villar, M.D., Senior Vice President for Medical and Academic Affairs and Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Granado-Villar joined Miami Children’s Hospital in 1984 and has 28 years of experience in the pediatric health care field. During her career at Miami Children’s Hospital she was appointed as the Program Coordinator for Preventive Medicine on July, 1991; Director, Division of Preventive Medicine and Community Pediatrics in July, 1999; Medical Director, Miami Children’s Hospital Pediatric Care Center in June, 2002; Chief, Department of Pediatric Medicine, January, 2004; Vice-President of the Medical Staff, January, 2007, Interim Chief Medical Officer in July, 2008.
Currently, Dr. Granado-Villar provides medical, academic and administrative leadership to the Miami Children’s Hospital medical community and is accountable to the Board of Directors for the quality, safety and efficiency of clinical services within the Hospital and for the effectiveness of the patient care review and other assessment functions delegated to the Medical Staff in conjunction with the Medical Executive Committee.
Dr. Granado-Villar is an active member of the Florida Pediatric Society, Executive Committee, Global Advisory Committee on the Prevention and Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses, World Health Organization, Miami Dade County Public School Health Advisory Board, Florida Partnership for School Readiness, Healthy Child Care America Medical Liaison for Florida and The American Academy of Pediatric Community Access to Child Health. Dr. Granado-Villar received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Miami and received her Medical Doctor Degree at the Universidad Central del Este in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.
