What is anemia?

Anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough healthy red blood cells. Red blood cells provide oxygen to body tissues.

Anemia is the name applied to many different conditions characterized by an abnormally low number of healthy red blood cells. Anemia conditions include, but aren't limited to:
