Dr. Sanchez-Vegas is an associate in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Miami Children’s Hospital. She is a graduate of the Universidad Central de Venezuela. After completing her residency at Miami Children’s Hospital, Dr Sanchez-Vegas continued her fellowship training at Boston University Medical Center (BUMC) spending her clinical time between BUMC and Boston Children’s Hospital. During her fellowship her main area of research was in dengue fever for which she spent 8 weeks at the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention Dengue Branch in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Her work on dengue was presented at the International Society of Travel Medicine 2009 Conference in Budapest, Hungary.
Her main interests are in international health, travel medicine, refugee health and tropical medicine.
