Dr. Ramirez-Seijas is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System. He has served as a pediatric nephrologist at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital since 1982. Dr. Ramirez-Seijas earned his medical degree from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. He completed a residency Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas; then pursued a fellowship in pediatric nephrology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. His clinical interests include urinary tract infections in children, vesicoureteral reflux in children, hematuria, proteinuria, systemic lupus erythematosus, dialysis and renal transplantation.
 
Dr. Ramirez-Seijas developed the Dialysis Unit at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. He is active in the hospital’s medical education program, working closely with medical students, residents and subspecialty fellows to support training in nephrology. He also developed a pediatric nephrology network in South Florida with renal clinics in Naples, West Palm Beach and Fort Myers, collaborating with South Florida pediatric nephrologists in Broward, Collier and Palm Beach counties, along with the Children’s Medical Services (CMS) clinics to provide care in those communities.
 
Dr. Ramirez-Seijas is board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric nephrology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Ramirez-Seijas has been published in peer-reviewed journals, lectured nationally and internationally and gained recognition globally with patient referrals from countries in the Caribbean, Europe, South and Central America, and the Middle East.
 
Dr. Ramirez-Seijas sees patients at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital main campus, Nicklaus Children’s Palm Beach Gardens Outpatient Center, Nicklaus Children’s Boynton Beach Care Center and CMS clinic in Naples. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
 
The Division of Nephrology at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive evaluation of renal function and treats kidney disorders in children, including congenital anomalies of the urinary tract, electrolyte imbalance, renal parenchyma diseases, tubular diseases and collagen vascular diseases. The pediatric nephrology program also performs kidney biopsies and offers a full spectrum of dialysis services for patients with acute renal failure, including hemodialysis, acute and chronic peritoneal dialysis and continuous arteriovenous hemofiltration.
