What are hand injuries?
Hand injuries can vary widely from problems that impact the wrists, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, to arthritis to accidents that result in fractures or dislocations. If not treated properly, these injuries can lead to complications and problems with daily function.
What causes hand injuries?
Common reasons for hand injuries can include overuse injuries due to repetitive motion of the hand or part of the hand. Accidents that directly impact the hand are another cause of hand injuries.
What are the symptoms of hand injuries?
Regardless of the type of injury, pain and limited mobility of all or part of the hand are the primary symptoms.
What are hand injury care options?
Depending on the nature and severity of the injury, treatment may range from casts and splints to surgery to repair the injury. Occupational therapy may be needed to help with rehabilitation of hand function.
