What is aneurysmal bone cyst?

When a blood-filled growth occurs in the bones of the arms, legs, skull, trunk or spine, then it might be an aneurysmal bone cyst. The good news about aneurysmal bone cysts is that they are not cancerous and they don’t spread.

What causes aneurysmal bone cyst?

A genetic mutation appears to be underlying cause of aneurysmal bone cysts. They also tend to accompany other bone problems or tumors.

What are the symptoms of aneurysmal bone cyst?

When an aneurysmal bone cyst occurs, it may cause swelling, stiffness, trouble moving the affected part of the body, warmth, deformity and pain.

What are aneurysmal bone cyst care options?

Removal of the aneurysmal bone cyst is frequently recommended. This can be done with curettage, which is scraping the bone, or treatments such as cryotherapy, cauterization, phenol and others.
